About the Item
Elegant pair of small wall shelves, made in Florence in the second half of the 19th century, in carved wood gilded with pure gold leaf. The decorative motif is richly inspired by the Tuscan rocaille tradition, with wavy leaf elements, scrolls, and a large central shell serving as an ornamental centerpiece. The fretwork on the back reveals accurate craftsmanship, while the contoured top lends itself to holding small art objects or sculptures.

Conservation status: Structurally intact, with well-preserved original gilding.
