About the Item

This iconic Uten.Silo storage panel, designed by Ingo Maurer and Dorothee Becker (Maurer's wife) in 1969, is a perfect example of functional and ironic post-World War II design. Made of bright red ABS plastic, it features containers of different shapes and sizes, metal hooks and clips designed to organize small household or office items with style and versatility. The proposed version shows an obvious flaw in the lower left: a crack that does not compromise functionality but is part of the history and daily use of this complement. Ingo Maurer (1932-2019) was one of the most innovative designers and "poets of light" of the 20th century. His creations are known for their ability to combine art and technology, evoking evocative emotions and atmosphere. His firm, Ingo Maurer GmbH, continues today to set a benchmark in the world of lighting and design. Ingo Maurer GmbH, founded in Munich in 1966, has become famous for its production of lamps and accessories with a poetic and visionary character. Ingo Maurer has always experimented with innovative materials and unexpected approaches, turning simple objects into light installations. In the 1980s, production of the Uten.Silo passed to Vitra of Switzerland, an iconic contemporary design company that has continued to produce it, confirming the timeless value of this piece. This Uten.Silo is not only a practical addition, but also an icon of German design that will bring a touch of history and character to any room.
