Early 19th Century Italian Carved and Giltwood Corner Bracket
About the Item
A finely carved and water gilt pine Italian corner bracket displaying period Empire military attributes. In front of the curved middle section, (of three), is a large feathered helmet behind which are vertical spears, fascia etc. The two lower curved supports at either end of the bracket are entirely of gilt swags. The bracket would likely date from the early 19th century, ie 1825. The period gilding in excellent condition and the bracket has its original sculpted blue turquin marble top.
