About the Item

A rare and unusual pair of English wall brackets circa 1825-30 of carved lions holding a circular top, dry stripped to original gilding. It is likely that the inspiration for these brackets is French and that they were likely carved by immigrant craftsmen in a non-traditional style as they strongly resemble the carved legs on tables known to be by the emigrant craftsman Louis Le Gaigneur. Pair of Rococo Bronze and Gilt Sconces
By Jacques Caffieri
Located in Greenwich, CT
Very fine pair of gilt and patinated bronze two light sconces depicting Mars holding two branches, in the manner of Jacques Caffieri.
