Four Evangelists, 12th Century, Gold Gilded and Polychromed Carved-Wood Purcha

About the Item

12th Century Spanish (Romanesque Period) gold gilded and polychromed carved-wood plaques of the four Evangelists; Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the authors attributed with the creation of the four Gospels in the New Testament. These are mounted on a Lucite panel and framed with a gold gilded and walnut hand-finished contemporary frame.
