Monumental Mounted Polychrome Stoneware Panels by Mario Ferreira Da Silva
About the Item
This large-scale high-fired stoneware sculpture was made by the Portuguese artist, Mario Ferreira da Silva, most noted for his 1971 80-panel installation commission for the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This particular work is comprised of four separate polychrome stoneware panels assembled to create one large, abstract master work. The hardware is a heavy patinated brass which connects the tiles to the frame. The texture, color, scale, and dimension of this piece combine to make it an exceptional work.
Artist signed and dated on the reverse 'Mario Silva 1969 Lisbon.
