About the Item

Somehow naively charming and sophisticated at the same time, this pierced sculptural panel by Jolan Cser, a Hungarian artist, depicts a nude shepherd youth playing the pipes, accompanied by one his charges clad in glorious golden fleece. The artist pierced the panel and created a number of textural effects before glazing, including the use of a tool to create indentations in the sheep's wooly body to suggest the curly fleece.
