This wonderfully weathered 250-300 year old sculpture was carved in France out of Oak. It depicts two guardians flanking a noble coat of arms, surmounted by a bejeweled crown. It was most certainly part of a larger structure when originally created, possibly a piece of furniture of larger armorial piece celebrating the union of two families. The circular plaque on the left depicts a lion "passant guardant" on a shield with two marine animals extending to the decorated frame. The plaque on the right is quartered, showing worn animal carvings and horizontal and vertical bars. The lower portion of the entire piece is slightly arched.
