Victorian Etruscan Revival bracelet. An outstanding classic bracelet, created in England during the Victorian Era (1837-1901), circa 1870. This bangle bracelet has been carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 16 karats (0.667/.999 Au), with an exceptional craftsmanship depicting geometric patterns of the Etruscan revival. Completing the elaborate design there is a pyramidal element with are decorated with applications of navy blue enamel and embellished with seventy tiny natural seed pearls. It is fitted with a discrete push boxed lock and a safety chain for extra security. When worn, it makes a spectacular statement piece that is as rich in history as it is in appearance!. Seeds Pearls: Mounted in inlaid settings with, 70 semi round cream-white natural seed pearls. Weight: 38.4 Grams, (24.62 Dwt). Size: Fit a wrist up to 7.5 Inches (19 Cm). Victorian Jewelry This era is one of the most influenced and influential periods of antique jewelry. This period is defined by the British monarch, in this case, Alexandrina Victoria, the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, as well as the Empress of India, years 1837-1901. There are 3 sub-periods within this era. Archaeological excavations in Egypt, Greece and Rome, discovered artistic pieces of these ancient cultures. These fabulous discoveries, stimulated cultural trips to these countries, popularly called "grand tour". Many nineteenth-century jewelers, the most famous being the House of Castellani, were inspired to create their own versions of these ancient pieces, hence “Etruscan Revival.” Characteristics of Etruscan style jewelry include use of high karat gold and semi-precious stones like lapis, malachite and agates, and most distinguishingly, the use of intricate filigree and granulation.
