About the Item
Stunning stylized snake bracelet custom made by Ilias Lalaounis in Greece in the 1970’s. It is made of platinum and set with approximately 16 carats of old cushion cut diamonds.
This Lalaounis snake bracelet fits up to 7" (18 cm) wrist. The snake's head is 1" (2.6 cm) wide at its widest point. The vintage snake bracelet weighs 87.5 grams.

About Lalaounis Brand:
Ilias Lalaounis was a renowned Greek jewelry designer, often referred to as the "father of modern Greek jewelry." Born in 1920 in Athens, Greece, he came from a family with a long history in the jewelry business. Lalaounis initially studied law and economics, but his passion for the arts and history drew him towards jewelry design.
In 1940, he joined the family's jewelry business, which was founded by his grandfather in 1870. However, Ilias sought to revolutionize the traditional craft, combining ancient Greek inspiration with contemporary design elements. He was particularly fascinated by the rich history and symbolism of ancient Greek art, mythology, and culture.
In 1969, Ilias Lalaounis established the House of Lalaounis in Athens, marking the beginning of his eponymous brand. His unique approach to jewelry design incorporated classical Greek motifs, archaeological elements, and traditional goldsmith techniques. The Lalaounis brand quickly gained international recognition for its unique aesthetic and craftsmanship.
One of Ilias Lalaounis's notable achievements was the creation of the "Museum of Jewelry" in Athens in 1994. It showcases a vast collection of his creations and also serves as a testament to his commitment to celebrating Greece's cultural heritage through the art of jewelry making.
Ilias Lalaounis passed away in 2013, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of jewelry design. The Lalaounis brand continues to thrive, combining tradition with innovation under the leadership of the Lalaounis family, ensuring that his artistic vision endures for generations to come.

Ilias Lalaounis
It’s fitting that Ilias Lalaounis (1920–2013) is the only jeweler ever inducted into the prestigious Académie des Beaux-Arts — the Greek jeweler’s creations, such as his decorative gold necklaces and rings, are less fashion adornment and more works of art.
Lalaounis was born in Athens in 1920 to a family of goldsmiths and watchmakers with origins in Delphi. Before turning to the family business, Lalaounis studied law, economics, business and music and trained with the painter Alexandros Alexandrakis. Such a well-rounded education laid the foundation for his unique approach to jewelry.
Lalaounis took the helm of his uncle’s jewelry company in 1940. The impact of the Second World War on Greece inspired the jeweler to celebrate his country’s history by reinterpreting its artifacts into new works of art. In 1957, Lalaounis founded the Greek Jewelers’ Association and exhibited at the Thessaloniki International Fair, showcasing the first of his “collections,” as he would come to define his phases of work. This, the Archaeological Collection, was informed by classical and Hellenistic history.
Lalaounis would go on to find new ways to render historic motifs in gold and gemstones after founding his namesake house in 1969. For his 1970s-era collection, Blow Up, he displayed gold pieces inspired by Minoan art on his models’ entire bodies; after opening a store in Tokyo, he presented a collection informed by Japanese art. Later, Lalaounis introduced a collection inspired by Native Americans at his Madison Avenue store in Manhattan. One of the jeweler’s most important commissions came in 1976, when he designed a collection that drew on Persian art for Empress Farah of Iran.
In 1984, Lalaounis explored his unique creative vision with a book, Metamorphoses. By the 1990s, he had stores across Europe as well as in Tokyo, Hong Kong and New York City, and his work had been exhibited at the National Museum of American History and the Penn Museum in Philadelphia, to name a few. In 1994, he founded his own eponymous museum in Athens, with a permanent collection of pieces from 45 of his collections. Lalaounis died in 2013.
Lalaounis’s research-driven approach to jewelry design gives his pieces a depth on par with any art form.

This spectacular bracelet has a unique, outstanding design. It comprises of ten flexible gold and diamond strings running towards each other. The strings meet in the middle, creating a layered loop crafted as a stylized drop.
This white gold and diamond bracelet is a fascinating piece, airy and substantially sparkly at the same time. The central element creates an amazing effect of the diamonds floating above the wrist.
The bracelet is made of 18 karat white gold and features 273 round brilliant cut diamonds, with the total weight of 31.09 carats. The diamonds are of F-G color, VVS2-VS1 clarity.
This Boucheron bracelet measures 6 ¾” x 1 ½” (17.5 x 3.8 cm) and weighs 90.3 grams.
