About the Item

This dramatic and stylish bracelet dates from the 1930s. It features a typically linear and geometric Art Deco design, which can be enjoyed for centuries to come. Condition Report: Very Good - Some light tarnishing to the chrome plated surface in a couple of small areas. This does not detract from the appeal of the piece and is only apparent upon very close inspection. The Details... This bracelet is constructed from chrome plated metal panels and navy blue and pale blue Galalith sections threaded onto chain to form a stripe design. The bracelet fastens with a box clasp and measures approximately 18cm in length. It is stamped 'DÉPOSÉ' on the tab of the box clasp, which indicates manufacture in France. It is also stamped 278, which will most likely be a factory or makers number. A Short History... During the 1920s and early 1930s, jewellery was influenced by the dawn of a new era. There was a push for all things modern after the shock of the First World War - people wanted to be cleansed of the old and celebrate the new. In the world of design a pure, hard-edged style was craved. This resulted in linear, geometric and symmetrical jewellery designs, as can be seen in this beautiful bracelet. Wear it With... Wear this bracelet with a linen shirt in a neutral tone and wide leg, chambray denim jeans.
