About the Item

Native American Navajo Indian Boulder "ribbon" turquoise bracelet set in sterling silver and marked "KYAZ .925" on the inside. The band has some flexibility for opening and closing. The stone is mainly a warm golden brown with exceptional dark brown matrix. Across the top and scattered across the bottom is the signature "ribbon" of vibrant and deep blue turquoise that stands out nicely against the warmer colors of the rest of the stone. The Boulder Turquoise Mine is located in northeast Nevada. It was originally discovered in the 1970s by a Shoshone sheep herder who stumbled upon a vein of turquoise on the hillside. The mine has been developed as an open cut and constitutes the mine's workings. The mine is marked by extensive bulldozer cuts on the east side of a small rounded hill. Production has been small due to the poverty and remote location making Boulder Turquoise valued for both it's beauty and rarity. Size: 5 3/8" ; 3/4" Opening ; 1 1/2"H. Circa 1970. Navajo Kingman Turquoise and Sterling Bracelet
Located in Coeur d Alene, ID
Navajo large turquoise slab bracelet. The turquoise is from the Kingman Mine in Arizona. This bracelet has an exceptionally beautiful sky blue stone (over 2") with twisted rope and bead border. Nice patina! This bracelet came from Arizona (Kingman Mine), we purchased in 2010. It was made by a Navajo silversmith during the period before they marked their work (most probably around 1960-70s). It not enhanced, it is a 100% untreated natural turquoise stone. It was first mined by the Native Americans many years before Europeans came to America. Probably at least 1,000 years ago. Much later a number of individuals and companies owned and used the mine. The Kingman Mine is located in an area called Mineral Park in Arizona. It was discovered by James Haas in the late 1800’s. In the late 1880’s to the early 1900’s, Mineral Park was mined by the Aztec Turquoise Co., the Los Angeles Gem Co., Arizona Turquoise Co., Southwest Turquoise...
