About the Item

Sterling silver cuff with applique raindrops surrounding a 1” x 1” Kingman Waterweb turquoise. The five wire cuff is 5 1/4” with a 1 1/8” gap. Gap: 1-1/8” Total inside circumference: 6-3/8” The Kingman Turquoise Mine is one of the oldest producing Turquoise mines in North America. It was discovered by Native Americans over 1000 years ago. Kingman Turquoise is known for its beautiful blue color and the mine produces many variations of blue turquoise. The mine also produces turquoise with a wonderful "Birdseye" or "Water Web" matrix pattern along with beautiful Spiderweb matrix patterns. About the Artist Navajo artist Rick Martinez is an extremely talented silversmith that has practiced his art on the New Mexico Reservation for over 20 years. He is a full-time silversmith and enjoys producing unique and one of a kind pieces. He uses fine stones and often "antiques" his pieces to make them look older than they are. He employs a variety of techniques such as several sizes of drops, twist wire, and stamped cutouts. Rick continues to embrace his culture and has been very inspiring to many young Native American silversmiths.

Navajo Kingman Turquoise and Sterling Bracelet
Located in Coeur d Alene, ID
Navajo large turquoise slab bracelet. The turquoise is from the Kingman Mine in Arizona. This bracelet has an exceptionally beautiful sky blue stone (over 2") with twisted rope and bead border. Nice patina! This bracelet came from Arizona (Kingman Mine), we purchased in 2010. It was made by a Navajo silversmith during the period before they marked their work (most probably around 1960-70s). It not enhanced, it is a 100% untreated natural turquoise stone. It was first mined by the Native Americans many years before Europeans came to America. Probably at least 1,000 years ago. Much later a number of individuals and companies owned and used the mine. The Kingman Mine is located in an area called Mineral Park in Arizona. It was discovered by James Haas in the late 1800’s. In the late 1880’s to the early 1900’s, Mineral Park was mined by the Aztec Turquoise Co., the Los Angeles Gem Co., Arizona Turquoise Co., Southwest Turquoise...
