Offered here is a Miriam Haskell faux pearl, crystal, and art glass bracelet from the 1950s. Let's start with the easy description, the cuff part: a memory-wire cuff comprised of four rows of glass pearls with bar spacers to maintain the rows, with dangling pearls on both ends. And now, moving on to the raison d'etre of the bracelet, the insanely spectacular centerpiece! It begins with the classic and emblematic Haskell element of a large gold-plated filigree platform, to which all the components are hand-wired; the two sides of the pearl cuff are attached to this. Then an intricate and spectacular edifice is built upon that platform. First is a three-dimensional rendition of filigree leaves, overlaid with sprays of flat carved leaves embellished with mirrored crystals, and emerging ruffled flower blooms centered with prong-set faceted crystals. This lavish expression of nature in jewelry garb provides a backdrop for a filigree butterfly creation, lavishly decorated with a central pear-cut crystal, ruby and emerald art glass florets with crystal centers, clear bugle beads, and tubes of art glass in givre pink and emerald. As if that weren't enough: from the top of the centerpiece emerges a cascade of eight metal mesh strands finished with tiny trembling metal spheres; and from the bottom of the centerpiece, another cascade of mesh strands in different lengths appears, finished with flattened bicone crystals and filigree-capped large glass pearls. This is one of the most singular and sumptuous pieces of Haskell jewelry I have ever encountered. It is playful and yet commanding, dazzling in its complexity and appealing in its Springtime vivacity. And unlike many of the older Haskell pieces, it is in exceptional condition, and completely intact with all original components and stones. This is the magic of Miriam Haskell at its very pinnacle. Dimensions: cuff is 1"W, interior circumference end-to-end 6.25", wholly adjustable; centerpiece is 1.5"L x 2"W; longest mesh tassel is 3"L, longest pearl tassel is 2"L.
