About the Item

This Victorian pink & blue sapphire bangle with pearls was created in the late 1800s to early 1900s. It features 5 natural heated royal blue sapphires and five natural heated pink sapphires. Or rubies. There's enough red in these stones to legitimately call them rubies. But to me, they're too pink to be rubies. The colorful stones are complemented by the cool, luminous luster of fine cultured saltwater pearls. Five 2.5mm pearls along each earm of the bangle and then three in the center: 4.97mm, 6.01mm, and 4.81mm These pearls are of superior quality: round, thick nacre, perfectly matched for size. These are the very finest cultured pearls that were available and would still today be graded as the highest quality. The goldsmithing on this bangle is excellent. It is both fully engraved and detailed and also fully handmade. It's an individual piece, not something made by a machine. Even the pink and blue sapphires were cut by hand. When you open the bangle at first, the hinge might feel loose. But under the microscope, you see that the hinge was -so incredibly thoughtfully- over-built. The gold rubbing against the gold has made the hinge a bit looser than it was when it was new. But it is no less durable. The closer you look at this bangle, the more beautiful it is. Happily, it's plenty magnificent at arm's length. The 59mm x 50mm interior diameter means the bangle will fit a small and a medium wrist. There is a safety chain and the perfectly tight clasp also has a safety catch.

Chalcedony Bracelet, Arts & Crafts Style Circa 1970s
Located in Southbury, CT
This luminous blue and grayish-blue chalcedony bracelet was created in the Arts & Crafts style though it dates to a later era; probably the 1970s. This one-of-a-kind bracelet was completely handmade using natural highly translucent chalcedony gems that range in tone from faint blue to rich periwinkle. At 141 grams, it's a satisfyingly substantial bracelet that will not get lost on your arm. The central flower-shaped arrangement is composed of one round 21mm chalcedony cabochon surrounded by eight oval and pear-shaped stones, along with two large 20mm x 17mm pear-shaped cabochons north and south. This collection of stones are soldered together as one piece that is curved to follow the arch of your wrist. On either side of this central design element are nine chalcedony cabochons, each bezel set and joined by hand-formed links. The links terminate on both ends at a row of 5 stones: two round, three ovals. The bracelet closes securely with a box clasp and safety latch. Because the central portion of this very large bracelet is fused, it's not a sloppy piece; the gems don't spin around on your wrist and become tangled. It retains its form and only the stones on the sides that are linked by chain can move freely. It's a clever design. The bracelet measures 7 ½ in length and is 3 ¾ wide. So it should fit many but the largest wrists. The bracelet is marked 925 for the silver and has an unknown maker's mark I cannot identify. Gorgeous, unique, and featuring the most distinctive blue in the gem world, this vintage chalcedony...

Imperial Topaz & Pearl Gold Ring Certified Untreated, London, 1843 Size 10.5
Located in Southbury, CT
This vivid pink imperial topaz ring -hand-crafted in England over 180 years ago- is one of the rarest and most unapologetically regal rings you will ever encounter. A size 10.5 ring, it was originally created for a man. But could of course be worn by anyone today. In the era this ring was created, men wore pearls. And no man would feel uncomfortable wearing a flashy pink gemstone because there is absolutely no other gemstone that looks like this. Topaz is a common gemstone and is typically white. It is irradiated to achieve its popular blue and pink colors. But naturally pink topaz is not common. It is in fact exceedingly rare, considerably rarer than diamonds. And this particular natural pink topaz gem is vividly saturated. It flashes purple. Having reviewed images of the pink imperial topaz necklace and earrings King Charles presented his wife, Queen Camilla...
