About the Item

Created circa 1930, this unusual platinum and diamond Art Deco strap bracelet is set with approximately 19.00 carats of diamonds. The bracelet is formed of a series of low-arched geometric links set with 260 old European, transitional, and baguette-cut diamonds, and punctuated by three large hexagonal-cut diamonds, the mount with foliate motif edges. With its intriguing pattern of interlocking chevrons and arched bars sparkling with fine stones, this luminous bracelet represents strong Art Deco design. Product Details: Item #: BA-21536 Country: United States Circa: 1930s Dimensions: 6.75" length, 0.625" width. Materials: 263 hexagonal-cut, baguette, old European and transitional-cut diamonds (approximate total weight 19.00 carats); Platinum Macklowe Gallery Curator's Notes: Strap bracelets of "simple but striking" geometric composition remained in vogue from the 1920s to early 1930s. By 1930, calibré-cut accent stones such as sapphries, rubies and diamonds, had been retired in favor of a gleaming all-white palette. As a form, the bracelet was the ornament of choice for newly bare arms, a feature of the revolutionary directions explored in haute couture in the period. Fine specimens like this strap are smoothly articulated, definite and pared down in design, and set with fine, clean diamonds of contrasting cuts.
