About the Item
This is an utterly unique and fully irresistible natural and untreated jadeite jade bracelet. White jade is often associated with nephrite jade, also known as "mutton fat." But this is not mutton fat jade; it is the rarer still white jadeite from Burma. The six round jade links are smooth and so translucent that when you hold the bracelet up to the light, the jade all but vanishes.
White jadeite is often less "white" than white "mutton fat" nephrite jade because it is often far more translucent, as is the case here. The six links are joined by 14K yellow gold hardware in a design of stacked double elongated ovals, each of which has been hand-engraved with horizontal lines. So it's rather modernist, with respect to the texturing that has been given to the gold, but it is a classic form of jade bracelet -disks, rings, hololiths, or bars of nephrite or jadeite linked with metal components. There's a safety chain but this time, the safety catch has a spring-ring so you can fully disengage it and this removes limitations such safety chains impose on size. The clasp is marked for metal fineness "14 KP". The KP stands for karat plumb and it is a guarantee that the gold is at least 14K and never less. It's truly exquisitely made, and as soon as I saw it, I felt goose pimples rise on my arms, which sometimes happens when I am near something rare and wonderful.
The bracelet measures 7" and each link measures 17.6 x 3.9mm. It weighs just over 19 grams, so it's light and you can wear it with your other favorite bracelets.
This irresistible bracelet ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the jade is "near-colorless" untreated jadeite from Burma (Myanmar).

View AllJade, Bangle, Created with Ohio Steel & 18K Gold, 70mm, 9"
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
I created this jadeite jade bead bangle with heavy gauge Ohio steel that I hand-worked into shape. This open bangle is worn by sliding your wrist through the bangle's narrow opening. Then you slide the "S" through the loop. It measures 9" in length but the beads add thickness making it wear more like an 8.5" bracelet. It can fit many different wrist sizes. As long as your hand measures more than 70mm from knuckle to knuckle, it won't slide off your hand. But an individual with a large to extra-large hand and wrist will probably find this bangle most comfortable.
You can wear it alone or stacked with others.
Twenty-six hand-carved beads move freely along the steel. These are untreated hand-cut and polished beads in a variety of green and greenish-gray tones. The beads range in size from 6.40mm to 8.24 and they average 8mm. A 7.6mm gold ring serves as a slender focal point.
Like most of the pieces in this collection, there is no lab certification included for the jade. This saves money helps me keep the price down, but does require a leap of faith on your end. All of the jade I use in my collection are from previously-tested "batches" from specific suppliers and all previous samples have tested as "A" jade. I only use "leftover" jade beads that I had in my collection after creating a necklace and then sending that necklace to the gem lab for testing and certification. Even though I can identify jade treatments with about 99% accuracy, I only sell jade that has been lab tested and is natural and untreated. Even my nephrite has been tested, which is highly uncommon in the industry. Yet Tiffany & Co. coats their nephrite necklaces...

Jade Bangle 18K Gold & Ohio Steel, Hand Forged, 65mm
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
I created this bangle with heavy gauge Ohio steel that I hand-work into shape. This open bangle is worn by sliding your wrist through the bangle's narrow opening. It's rigid enough to retain its shape, but flexible enough to fit many wrists. Use two hands to carefully narrow or widen if needed.
Adorning the bangle are ten highly translucent earth-toned hand-carved jadeite jade beads from Burma (Myanmar), each of which measures approximately 8mm. They are accompanied by a pair of 6.8mm 18k yellow gold rings. A 9.81mm sage green opaque (yet translcent) focal point bead resides in the center.

Jade & Akoya Peal Stretch Bracelet with Jadeite Dangle 7 1/2" Small to Medium
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
This 7 1/2" beaded stretch bracelet will fit small to medium hands and wrists and is composed of 21 highly translucent 5.35mm light greenish-blue barrel-shaped jadeite beads from Guatemala, alternating with 21 4.5mm vintage cultured Akoya pearls. A translucent white Burmese jadeite jade hand-carved monk dangles from a removable gold-filled charm that is further embellished with a lovely Chinese freshwater pearl. The result is a gorgeous, translucent, ethereal bracelet.
Luxurious and so unique, this could become your signature bracelet if you have a small to medium-sized wrist. So easy to wear, alone or with a bunch of other bracelets.
About Jadeite from Guatemala:
The vast majority of jadeite comes from one location: Burma (Myanmar). Jadeite forms under highly specific geological conditions that exist in only seven or eight locations on the planet and Guatemala has these conditions. The ancient Mayan civilization knew jade well and used it for jewelry, masks and more. But like the ancient cities themselves, the jungles consumed the jade mines...
