Vintage Heavy Solid 18K Gold 8ct Aquamarine Bracelet c.1940

About the Item

A vintage mid-century gold bracelet set with magnificent aquamarine, circa 1940. The bracelet weighs an impressive 30 grams, and its crafted in solid 18K gold. The entire exterior of the bracelet is intricately engraved with scrollwork and foliate motifs. The natural aquamarine gemstone weighs approximately 8cts and displays the most gorgeous watery blue colour, with very few inclusions. The aquamarine contrasts the buttery, yellow hues of the high-karat gold very beautifully. The aquamarine is bezel set in an open-backed mount which enables light to pass through the stone and allows for easy cleaning of the setting. It measures 19.5cm in length. The bracelet remains in very good condition and the stone is securely set. The tongue of the box clip clasp is stamped with a makers mark in rectangular box (TCC). The gold is unmarked but tests as 18K. The name 'aquamarine' comes from the Latin words 'aqua' (water) and 'marina' (of the sea). It has been used in jewellery for at least 3000 years with references in Roman, Greek, Egyptian and Sumerian writings. The Romans in particular believed the sea-blue gem washed ashore after spilling out of the mermaid's treasure chest. Blessed by the sea god Neptune, they trusted the crystals to bring fortune and protection to those who found them.

Vintage 18K Gold French 1960’s Frosted Glass Cameo Ring Renaissance Revival
Located in London, GB
A superb and unusual glass cameo ring made in Paris, circa 1960. The ring is rather large in scale, crafted in 18K gold and weighing a seriously impressive 29 grams. In the centre rests a bright orange “pate de verre” (moulded glass paste) cameo with a frosted glass effect to the front and a faceted underside. The cameo depicts the bust of a woman in classical style wearing a wreath of flowers and grapes. The ring head features an openwork gallery which takes the form of circles which are enamelled in black. There is a white and black enamelled floral motif on each shoulder with chased crosshatching in typical Renaissance style. This impressive ring is particularly unusual due to the fact that incorporates a variety of revival styles into the design, for example the 17th century style shoulders with the Art Deco era frosted glass classical bust. Antique Mid-19th Century, French 18K Agate and Rose Cut Diamond Cluster Ring
Located in London, GB
This stunning antique cluster ring was made in France and dates to around the mid 19th century, circa 1860. In the centre rests a smooth banded agate in an open back setting, encircled by a halo of rose cut diamonds in closed-back, cutdown silver settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.15 carats. The ring has a decorative pierced gallery in the form of crescents and a solid semi-circular shank. The shoulders are decorated with two applied fleur-de-lis, each set with rose cut diamonds in silver settings. The main colour of the milky agate is a creamy-brown hue with a darker brown band on one side. The diamonds are rose cut, the triangular facets of these cuts were very popular during the Georgian and Victorian periods as they glistened more beautifully in candlelight than any other cut. This elegant ring sits flat on the finger, the stones are secure in their settings and the ring is in superb condition despite its significant age, a truly rare find!
