About the Item
A striking symbol of strength and guardianship, this antique griffin brooch was crafted circa 1910 in rich 14 karat gold by the esteemed American firm Carter, Gough & Co. of Newark, New Jersey—one of the most respected jewelers of the early 20th century. The mythical creature is exquisitely detailed, its fierce expression brought to life by a vivid green glass eye, while a glittering old mine-cut diamond is nestled into its chest, adding a subtle but elegant sparkle.
Measuring approximately 1.1 by 1.1 inches and weighing 4.41 grams, the brooch is a perfect balance of bold design and refined scale.
The back of the pin is stamped with the maker’s mark for Carter, Gough & Co., attesting to its fine provenance.
