About the Item
An exquisite example of Masonic jewellery art by Guild & Delano of Boston, C 1876, specialists in jewellery for Masons. This piece was made for the PM (Past Master) W.B. Thomas Leyland of Phoenician Lodge in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
The top portion of this substantial medal features two nicely hand-engraved, chased and enamelled ribbons framing Masonic symbols and the bottom portion is centred with a natural amethyst sun with eight hand-engraved ray bursts. The reverse of the bottom portion is engraved with the words: Phoenician Lodge to W. B. Thomas Leyland PM, Laurence, Mass. 1876.
This jewel measures 6 x 11 cm and weighs 36.4 grams. The central gemstone is a natural medium violet round cut amethyst, 11 mm in diameter at approx. 4 ct weight.
It is in a very good wearable condition and comes with the original box. That said to find such a unique authentic historic jewel in its original case is a rarity in itself.
