An aquamarine and diamond brooch by Hennell, 9x6cm, 55.9 grams
About the Item
An impressive aquamarine and diamond brooch by Hennell, the rectangular radiant-cut aquamarine weighing 66.02 carats, within a diamond-set lozenge-shaped frame of scroll design with four diamond-set linear drops, suspending a smaller cluster of similar design set with an emerald-cut aquamarine weighing 14.73 carats, to five diamond-set drops of floral design, the old brilliant and transition cut diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 11½ carats , all set in platinum mount, with detachable brooch and accompanied by additional ring fitting, signed Hennell, circa 1930, the brooch measuring 9 x 6 cm, gross weight 56.1 grams.
A marvellous Art Deco brooch which forms part of a treasured collection of antique jewellery for sale at Bentley and Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. This brooch features two sky blue aquamarines of impressive carat sizes, surrounded by shimmering diamonds in a scroll design frame. This piece was made and signed by Hennell, the prominent jeweller known for their impressive Art Deco pieces made in the 1920s and 1930s.The beauty of this brooch lies in its versatility. The scintillating diamond-set runs add length to this statement piece but can be removed along with the smaller emerald-cut aquamarine at the wearer’s choice. The larger aquamarine can then be worn as a more subtle brooch, and the smaller aquamarine can be transformed into a beautiful ring to compliment. This is a truly one-of-a kind piece and can be worn for multiple looks and is sure to catch the eye whichever way it is worn.
