A Crescent Moon Brooch with 4.5ct Old Cut Diamonds, circa 1900's

About the Item

Old brilliant- and rose-cut diamonds, mounted in silver and gold, French import marks for 18 carat gold and silver, cushion-shaped diamonds approx. 4.50cts total, Measurements 2.90 x 2.80 cm, gross weight 5.75 grams. The rising of the crescent moon in March occurs in a period that symbolizes the transition between winter and spring, representing renewal and hope. In ancient cultures, the rising of the crescent moon was considered a harbinger of fertility and prosperity. In many civilizations, it was celebrated with rituals dedicated to the goddess Moon and the cycles of nature. The Babylonians, for example, attributed protective powers to the crescent moon, while the ancient Greeks associated it with the goddess Artemis, a symbol of hunting and independence. Even today, its rising is seen as a moment of introspection and preparation for new beginnings. The crescent moon is an ancient symbol that crosses cultures and religions, representing the cycle of life, growth and transformation. In astrology, it is associated with intuition and femininity, while in various spiritual traditions it indicates protection and good luck. It is an emblem that has always inspired artists and designers, finding ample space in fashion and jewelry. Wearing a crescent-shaped piece of jewelry is not only an aesthetic choice, but also a way to carry a symbol of energy and renewal. Crescent-shaped necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings are available in different variations of materials and designs. The crescent moon is more than just a symbol: it is a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the beauty of the universe. Wearing it means carrying a pinch of magic with you every day!
