About the Item
This stunning Monique Vedié Talosel resin brooch features a dimensional pineapple shape in yellow and green colors, adorned with a textured pattern and gilded metal rings that mimic the pineapple's texture. The brooch has its original security closing clasp at the back.
Monique Vedié was born in the 1920s and studied with Line Vautrin in Paris, where she learned the Talosel process. When she established her company, Vedié designed cellulose acetate jewelry featuring rich colors, often inspired by fruits, flowers, and a few characters. At the beginning, the look of her pieces was very similar to Vautrin's work; all the pieces are hand-made. None of her creations are signed, but the style is unique and highly recognizable. Before retiring in 1992, she worked with several prestigious Parisian fashion houses, including Lanvin, Dior, and Ungaro. The signature style established by Vedié is continued under the name of CILEA by the present designer, Stephane Ravel. Cilea Paris now primarily works for French designer Françoise Montague.
TALOSEL is a material created by Line Vautrin, made of synthetic resin elaborated at the end of WWII. This 1950s patented term is an acronym for aceTAte de celluLOSe ELabore (Elaborate Cellulose Acetate).
