About the Item
An exquisite crescent moon pin from the late Victorian (ca1900s) era! This beautiful piece is crafted in 18kt yellow gold and silver and displays luscious demantoid garnets, sparkling Rose Cut diamonds, and lustrous pearls. The vibrant green garnets line the body of the crescent, graduating slightly in size, with the largest set in the center of the moon. A sterling silver "ribbon" wraps around the length of the moon, curling in a symmetrical 3-dimensional manner, each high point adorned with beautiful old Rose Cut diamonds. The celestial design is completed with five medium-sized natural pearls which are set along the outer edge of the pin, each riveted into a gold backing. The diamonds, garnets, and pearls create a fantastic color combination that pairs beautifully against the patinaed silver-topped surface and a secure bar pin and clasp can be found on the back. The piece is stamped with several French import marks, including two swans and an owl, representing the minimum standards of .750 gold purity and .800 silver purity for the importation of jewelry into France from a non-treaty country. A real beauty, the gorgeous pin would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
The crescent moon measures 1 3/8" tall, 1 1/4" at the widest point, and has a depth of 1/4".
