About the Item

An usual vintage carved opal pansy brooch set with diamond, circa 1960. This beautifully rendered opal is carved in a Pansy flower shape. Pansies have tremendous meaning in jewelry symbolism - often given as a love token reminding the recipient to think of the giver. Derived from the French verb “to think” - Pensee. The opal in this brooch is very lively with flecks of red and green. It is accented by 18 circular cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.75 carats. The brooch is 2.5 inches long and 1.25 inches wide.
