About the Item
Paris 14th December 2004. Line Vautrin was born in April 1913. Daughter and grand-daughter of a founder, she has learnt very early the engraving and founding arts. she held a booth at the 1937 International Exhibition, that helped her to be reknown. She opened a shop, rue de Berry and another one Faubourg Saint-Honore.
She used to call herself a finery maker. Her production is not the one of art or fashion jewels but the one of artist jewels.
Thanks to Schiaparelli, she deserved the right to display exclusive pieces for the first time. she also was displayed at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Her rebus are the witness of her acute sense of humour. she showed her science of non essentials, of the accents, of the details, of the little touch of...
She had similar way of thinking to Berard and Cocteau, and Jean Royere and Jean Dive did use her inventions.
Her pieces are now becoming more and more rare on the market and greedily searched for by collectors and museums.
