Clip-on EARRINGS, vintage from the 50s, signed WEISS, diameter 2.5 cm, weight of one earring 6.3 g, good condition. Albert Weiss is a former Coro company craftsman, He opened his own business in New York in 1942. He is well known for his use of high quality Austrian rhinestones which feature excellent clarity. Many of his magnificent designs depict insects and butterflies which are highly sought after by collectors. Weiss excelled in the production of floral and figurative brooches as well as earrings. The firm has also created many styles of bracelets and necklaces. Although Weiss jewelry was never as successful as Coro's, Weiss jewelry was so successful in the 1950s and 1960s that the company had to call on the Hollycraft company to meet its needs. Requirement. Weiss is known for his use of smoky rhinestones. The company was also one of the first to use Swarovski crystals (Aurora Borealis series created with Dior in the 1950s). The Skyline series of earrings and brooches are comparable to those in Eisenberg's Ice range. Weiss not only worked with rhinestones, he also worked with enamel, as well as lacquered pieces. You will find numerous lacquered metal brooches in the shape of a Maltese cross, often dotted with “Black Diamond” pearls. Albert Weiss served as president of his company and retired in 1969. One of his sons, Michael, took over the business for a short time. Weiss Jewelry activity ceased completely in 1971. Weiss est connu pour son utilisation de strass fumés. La société a également été l’une des premières à utiliser des cristaux Swarovski (série Aurora Borealis créée avec Dior dans les années 1950). La série de boucles d’oreilles et de broches Skyline sont comparables à ceux de la gamme Ice d’Eisenberg. Weiss ne travaillait pas que les strass, il travaillait également l’émail, ainsi que des pièces laquées.
