About the Item

Old European Diamond Earrings with Silver over 18K Gold designed and hand - crafted ca. middle of 19th century and modified ca. 1930s Each earring measures 36 mm long from the very top ( without chains an d hooks) x 10 mm at widest x 6 mm at deepest. Each Earring bears 29 natural old mine ,old European and cushion cut Diamonds. On one earring the largest central diamond measures : 5 x 4,5 x 2.63 mm deep or 0.55ct. On the second the largest diamond is 4.5 mm x 4.25 mm x 2.9 mm deep or ca. 0.45 ct. The rest of the stones of various sizes ranging between 3 mm - 1 mm . The earring with largest stone is decorated with diamonds of total weight of ca. 1.7 ctw. Second Earring - total of ca. 1.65 ctw. Total weight on both : ca. 3.35 ctw. We can provide a full list of measurements of all stones on request. Color range of Diamonds : ca. F - H. All stones have very small inclusions. The majority of Diamonds have open backs, smallest stones have closed backs. Weight: 8.7 grams pair with chains and hooks included. Used Finest condition. This pair was not used for decades. Natural dark patina on 18K Gold and Silver parts. This pair was Initially designed to be with hooks and it was later modified to be suspended from screwed hangers on earlobes. Such screws became very popular in Scandinavia and Germany in 1920s - 1930s. Note those little shields on the ends of the screws will not go through every hole on any ear easily and they create some pressure. You may cut them off and polish the ends of to allow the screws to go through the hole on the Ear. Interesting and and unusual security hooks with attached chains leading to in solid 18K Gold that hide behind the ears. These hooks are adjustable, you may try to bend them carefully a bit for best fit. We can modify this pair again and attach them to custom made 18K hooks again upon request, for additional payment. > Most of the items that we sell are not new at all if not stated otherwise. Stones of the rings photographed alone may look a bit differently when on hand because your finger makes the back side of the stone closed and light no longer can go through and the color becomes different. Stones with closed backs may seem darker than stones with open backs. Such nuances of color perception do not give any excuse to claim item to be not as described. Some buyers tried to make return of the items and to avoid paying shipping and restock expenses claimed that : " color is different from that on image .. " there are inclusions that I didn't notice " "it looks smaller than I expected" ! Unfortunately Internet sales do not allow us to see the items in person before we get them by post. Minor color deviations may be possible. CUSTOM WORK : About Resizing: Resizing of rings can be done on request. The work will be done by experienced professional jeweler. Note: We will not be responsible for any physical/color changes that may occur as a result of heating of the stones during the process of resizing. We will not be responsible if in the process of resizing or customization any stone on the ring becomes loose, if any deformation occurs in general or if band of the ring changes shape or becomes deformed. Such misfortunes may occur very seldom, but cannot be ruled out when dealing with old jewelry for any sizing requires heating and change of the band's shape. Polishing of the band is always a final step of any resizing but machinery used for polishing causes vibration that old rings (with prongs for example ) often do not like at all. It is often difficult or impossible to get an accurate characteristics of the weight , color and nature of inclusions without removing the stones from the settings to be weighed and examined and doing that may damage the piece.
