About the Item

Very peculiar pair, this type of design was popular in ancient times among Greeks, Romans, Germans and Nordic folks. Twisted snakes or necks of lions or other creatures with heads on top - all had same similar shape of the twisted nail with sharp end and increasing diameter that naturally screws into the earlobe for best and secure fit. Measures 14 mm x 12 mm at axes. No idea about age and origin. No hallmarks. Metal tested at least solid 18K. Weight: 2 grams pair . Used finest condition. In Norse mythology Jörmungandr – sometimes called the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent – was one of Loki's monstrous children, along with Fenrir and Hel. This massive sea serpent encircles the Earth or Midgard, holding its tail in its mouth until very rare moments when it may release it for a while - an example of an Ouroboros, Nordic way. Gemstones may often look differently in different light and weather conditions and time of the day, both indoors and outdoors. Stones of the rings photographed alone may look a bit differently when on hand because your finger makes the back side of the stone closed and light no longer can go through and the color becomes different. Stones with closed backs may seem darker than stones with open backs. Such nuances of color perception do not give any excuse to claim item to be not as described.
