3d printed bioplastic with Swarovski crystals and gold-filled post/closure. Handmade to order. Designed in Connecticut by Dominique Renée. Dominique Renée is a 3d printed jewelry line that sassily explores personal experiences. Inspired by everything from heartbreak to loving again, alienation and self love, Dominique Renée seeks to empower women by creating pieces that are real and relatable. "Born and raised in Connecticut, I grew up in an environment where creativity and individuality were strongly encouraged. At a young age, I discovered that I had a love for music and art and that I wanted to create. After high school, I decided to go to college for Graphic Design, but soon after concluded that my heart wasn’t in it. My dreams of being a designer were stifled only by the feeling that I might not have what it took. When my nails started to turn heads everywhere I went, I realized it was time to go for it. What did I have to lose? I started designing my own nails because I couldn’t find salons that were able to do what I wanted done. It is not exactly how I thought I would get started, I just kind of fell into it, but I am passionate about it. Nails, for me, had become my most important accessory when putting an outfit together. We ALL know how important accessories are. With that in mind, I decided to acquire my certification in Nail Technology and to develop my own line of hand-painted nails. After premiering my first couple nail collections, I expanded my line to offer other handmade accessories. ______________________________________ This piece is part of the NYCJW HERE WE ARE Marketplace. HERE WE ARE is a strategic initiative that supports the diverse spectrum of creators within the jewelry community by creating impact and action within and outside the industry through awareness, empowerment, and education. Launched in 2019 under the guidance of NYCJW’s Director of Cultural Diversity and Inclusion, Elliot Carlyle, HERE WE ARE is a combination of community-driven events including panels, webinars, and exhibitions. Initially designed to reflect and celebrate the many and varied cultures & visions across New York City, NYC Jewelry Week is excited to expand the reach of HWA across the United States as the platform enters its second year in November of 2020. With over 50 participants, HERE WE ARE 2020 presents the work of fresh emerging talent alongside innovative established talent in the field of jewelry. HWA celebrates the voices and visions that make the jewelry world one of the most captivating industries around, HWA kicks off with an introduction to the faces and names of the hand-selected jewelers and artists involved. Each jeweler and artist chosen to be a part of HWA 2020 has created a business that presents a well-crafted collection or body of work, a unique vision and a dedication to the work. HWA serves to provide a platform for visibility, business growth and connections for the jewelers involved and is focused on the pursuit of equity within the jewelry industry.
