About the Item
Monique Vedie Paris designed these rare Talosel resin clip-on earrings. The pieces boast a floral dangling shape with carved, dimensional, large petal drops in emerald green color with glittering textured pattern. The fastenings feature domed black talosel or resin elements ornate with metallic glittering seeds. Each earring has the classic French clip back. Like all the vintage Monique Vedie pieces, these earrings are not signed.
Measurements: 1.75 in wide (4.4 cm) x 2.19 in long (5.6 cm).
About the designer:
Monique Vedié was born in the 20s and has been a student of Line Vautrin in Paris, where she learned her Talosel process. When she established her company, Vedié designed cellulose acetate jewelry, with rich colors, mostly fruits, flowers, and a few characters. At the beginning, the look of her pieces were very similar to Vautrin's work, all the pieces are hand-made and crafted in her studio. Her creations are not signed, but the style is unique and highly recognizable. Before retiring in 1992, she worked with many prestigious Parisian fashion houses such as Lanvin, Dior, and Ungaro. The signature style established by Vedié is continued under the name of CILEA by the present designer Stéphanie Ravel.
TALOSEL is a material created by LINE VAUTRIN. It is a synthetic resin developed at the end of WWII. This 1950s patented term is an acronym for aceTAte de celluLOSe ELabore (Elaborate Cellulose Acetate).
