Since Tara Lois created her first jewelry in 2013, she has won many international awards for her designs, craftmanship and sustainable practices, appeared in magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair, as well as exhibiting at major events like Milan Jewellery Week. But the most precious accolade is the number of returning clients, some of whom are also jewelry collectors. Her talent is extraordinary, as she sculpts creations which are a fusion of contemporary design with ancestral techniques, capturing the essence of an emotion, memory or narrating a story in precious materials. Her influences are multi-national, with her studio on a small Maltese island, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, and having studied in the UK as well as growing up in France. She understands elegance and luxury. Tara’s visual style may vary but it is always underpinned by strong sweeping curves accented with delicate gemstones, fragile glass, vitreous enamel or filigree. Some of her designs have been called “elven-like” featuring Maltese filigree, which is the ancient technique of patiently and painstakingly curving and twisting impossibly thin hand drawn wire into delicate designs. One of Tara’s promises, unless explicitly stated, is that she never recreates a piece of jewellery. Each jewel is unique, even if it forms part of a limited collection.
