AGATIZED FOSSILIZED DINOSAUR BONE Name: Agatized fossilized dinosaur bone Origin: Earth Age: 146 to 156 million years old Mohs Hardness: 6.5 - 7.0 Location of find: Colorado Plateau, United States Agatized fossilized dinosaur bone is extremely rare as it petrified with crystals during the fossilization process, preserving the original cell structure of the dinosaur in the fossil. Due to impurities that were in the surrounding sediment over 140 million years, these fossils, which transport one to the late Jurassic Period, range in color from cream, blue and black, to peach and pink hues. This agatized fossilized dinosaur bone is sustainably sourced from the Colorado Plateau. The undulating serrations notable in the silhouette of specimens are called regmaglypts, in reference to the thumb-print sized indentations formed by ablation when the original meteorite burned through the atmosphere. Sikhote-Alin meteorite specimens are dark silver grey with deep tones, featuring a brusque finish and range between 4.6 billion and 6.3 billion years old.
