This item is on sale and will be offered to the trade in about another week or so if not sold here. Attached in images here is a recent screen grab of a 10ct bicolor topaz from the same location. This location is known to have crystals of Topaz that are orangy as well as light blue in the same crystal and they can be cut and faceted to show this feature. Either a gemstone in this orangy color or very light blue, is natural and collectible. You want find this material offered often and when it is available, the price is high. As seen in screen grab, a 10ct gem is estimated to bring about $350 or $3500 for the gemstone. The color of our orangy Marquise is much deeper and desirable than the orange seen in the emerald cut. Also, we used an award winning cutter to facet our rough to produce this stunning gem. Our Marquise is not 10cts, but 4 times that size at over 40cts - larger gems are more rare and could be priced higher per carat. If priced at what one sees for the emerald cut, this would be priced at over $14000. We have been in the gem trade selling to the trade for almost 45 years now - we have the connections and our goal is to sell below the expected trade price if at all possible. This gemstone rough came directly from a Ukranian family (father, mother and young son) who work the deposit in hopes of finding something of value to make a living. Don't miss out on this special gemstone..... 40.48ct Marquise Shaped Ukranian Natural Topaz - Orange to Smoky Orange depending on available lights. We were extremely lucky to find two pieces of Ukranian Brandy to Smoky Orange to Orange Colored Topaz Rough which one of our Specialty Cutters faceted and created this unique Marquise shape - not far from an oval and at first glance it does indeed look like an oval. This is a large gemstone for an Orangy Topaz. This material is known as coming from this one area of the world and this Topaz is known to change color to light blue while the crystal is growing, and therefore, you will frequently see this material faceted in emerald cuts where part of the gemstone is a very light blue and the other half is this unique pleasing color. These Bicolored Topaz tends to be in large sizes as the blue is very light so the larger/deeper the stone, the more noticeable the blue. We encountered this material being sold by a Ukranian and just had to have both pieces that were available - one of the reasons was that there was an example of this color of Topaz faceted and we thought the color, the size and polish were all attractive and definitely desired to have our cutters work their magic on this available rough. We have never had this color of Topaz in our inventory during our numerous decades in business. This was a must have! Also, at this time, supporting those in the Ukraine was also a consideration. There are some very small inclusions (pinpoints) but they are so small and the stone is exceptionally large and therefore really has no affect on the brillance, the gem or the price! This unqiue and vibrant/lively gemstone is a unique color since it will color shift depending on lighting and wavelengths available. Topaz comes in many colors with the yellows, oranges, pinks and reds coming from Ouro Preto selling for $3500/ct or higher depending on size. We got a great yield/return from the rough which produced this large gem - the price per carat is much less than you would expect and is only being sold here for $100/ct - Not many gemstones in such a large size will have such a low price per carat, but as noted, the yield from the rough to this faceted gem was good, cutting charges from our specialty cutter were not exorbitant and with our 43 years in the gem business, we know a bargain when we see it and willing to pass the savings onto our customers. Note that various lights were used in the photography of this gemstone, and depending on the wavelengths, you will see the various colors from smoky orange, to orange to brandy colors displayed...
