About the Item

This is the first book to tell the story of Miriam Haskell the person and Miriam Haskell the prestigious house of costume jewellery. Miriam Haskell herself was an enigmatic retiring woman whose particular talent lay in gauging the fashion moods of her time and embodying them in the intricately hand crafted costume jewels which were to become the hallmark of her success. Miriam Haskell's legacy is in the jewellery itself and some 200 examples, many from private collections, have been specially photographed for this book and will whet the appetite of the many existing collectors and would-be collectors. This jewellery forms a significant stratum of the changing world of fashion of the twentieth century and is a worthy tribute to a legendary name. Hardcover, 207 pages.
