About the Item

APEERE translated means "woven basket" this necklace was inspirerd by the texture and pattern of the traditional produce baskets used by farmers and market women in Nigeria. The Necklace is a part of the Iboju Collection and was designed and handcrafted at our Studio in Texas, U.S.A . Made with 25mm Wooden Beads , 8mm Seamless Silver plated Round Spacers, Silver-plated Filigree Bead caps, 12mm . At Zuri Perle we handcraft authentic wearable art that expresses the diversity of African accessories. Zuri Perle was established by Nigerian born designer Atinuke Adeleke She is an alumni of the Gemological Institute of America, a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and is currently pursuing her MFA at the University of North Texas. She initially created the brand to cater to African brides and grooms looking for traditional African jewelry in the United States. She has since expanded the brand to incorporate a balance of her Nigerian traditional aesthetic and western experience,which includes CAD and 3D printing, making the Zuri Perle accessory perfect for any occasion. Designed and created by Atinuke Adeleke in Texas, Atinuke Adeleke is the owner and lead designer of the accessory brand Zuri Perle. She holds an undergraduate degree in Law and a Masters degree in Commercial Law. Her journey into Jewelry, and subsequently metalsmithing began in 2012. Her pieces have been seen on Fox 4 Kansas City, CNN Africa, and Say Yes to the Dress. She showcased her first runway collection at Kansas City Fashion Week in 2019. She recently showcased her new collection at the FLYING SOLO NYFW and at KANSAS CITY FASHION WEEK in September. She is currently pursuing her MFA in metalsmithing and Jewelry with a focus on 3D design and digital fabrication at the University of North Texas ______________________________________ This piece is part of the NYCJW HERE WE ARE Marketplace. HERE WE ARE is a strategic initiative that supports the diverse spectrum of creators within the jewelry community by creating impact and action within and outside the industry through awareness, empowerment, and education.
