About the Item
A Victorian 14 karat gold long rolo link pocket watch chain. The three-row chain is very well and finely made from small rolo belcher links. All three chains are individual and all consist of one piece. The watch key is nicely decorated with scrolling motifs. The beautiful chains in combination with the watch key is a magnificent jewel from ancient times.
A variety of pocket watch chains were used by wealthy Georgian and Victorian gentlemen. Often a watch key and fob would hold a pocket watch swung on chains attached to the vest pocket on the other side of the vest. These fob chains often had small pendants - like seals - and these pendants themselves became known as fobs.
The chains are in very good condition and of high quality. The chains including dog clasp measure 46 cm long and the watch key 2.7 cm in length. The weight of the chains and watch key is 27 grams.
