Aquamarine Diamond Platinum Fringe Necklace Circa 1950s
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Vintage Aquamarine Diamond Platinum fringe necklace, circa 1950s. The Vintage Aquamarine Diamond Platinum Fringe Necklace, dating back to the 1950s, exemplifies the opulence and intricate craftsmanship characteristic of mid-20th century jewelry design. This period was marked by a resurgence of interest in elaborate adornments that not only showcased gemstones but also reflected the cultural and social dynamics of post-war society. The necklace's use of aquamarine—a stone traditionally associated with tranquility and clarity—paired with diamonds set in platinum, underscores its luxurious nature while simultaneously highlighting the aesthetic preferences of its time. The design features a fringe style, which was particularly popular during this era. This motif allows for movement and fluidity in the piece, creating an eye-catching interplay of light as it catches reflections from both the aquamarine and diamond stones. Each aquamarine is typically cut to enhance its natural brilliance, while the diamonds serve to accentuate their color through contrast. The choice of platinum as a setting material is significant; known for its durability and resistance to tarnish, platinum not only provides a secure mount for these precious stones but also contributes to the overall elegance and longevity of the piece. Moreover, this necklace can be contextualized within broader historical trends in jewelry-making during the 1950s. The post-war boom led to increased consumerism and an appetite for luxury goods among affluent classes. In this sense, pieces like this vintage fringe necklace...
