About the Item

An art deco sterling necklace designed by KALO. This is a very rare necklace created in Chicago United States during the art & craft period, back in the 1910. The beautiful necklace has been crafted by the KALO jewelry company in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with polished finish. The design of the necklace is composed by eleven graduated curvilinear links in the liberty style and is fitted with a security spring ring. Jewelry pieces by KALO are highly collectable and hard to find the antique market. KALO The Kalo Shop was a prominent American Arts and Crafts movement silver studio founded in 1900 in Chicago, Illinois. It was known for its distinctive hand-wrought silver jewelry and metalwork, particularly its "puffy" jewelry lines. The company was founded by Clara P. Barck Welles and a group of six females, all graduates from the Art Institute of Chicago. The company name is take from the Greek word, "to make beautiful". Country: Chicago, United States, Period: Art Deco, 1930. Weight: 50.95 Grams, (32.66 Dwt). Size: 15.5 Inches (39.4 Cm.) and may be easily resized up on special request, adding several round links at the back. Measurements: The widest part is 23 mm (0.91 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay and warranty of the gold and signed as follows, "HAND WROUGHT STERLING KALO". Collateral: This KALO necklace is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this KALO necklace is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the sterling. All parts are secured in the settings. This necklace has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
