Amedeo Italian Shell Cameo 14K Gold Pendant Brooch
About the Item
This shell cameo brooch pendant depicts Bacchus and dates back to the second half of the 20th century. It was masterfully crafted by the renowned company Amedeo by M+M Scognamiglio.
Each layer of the shell has been meticulously carved, unveiling a unique and intricate pattern that stands as a testament to the unparalleled skill of the artisan.
Plain 14kt solid yellow gold mount.
Sized approximately 46.5mm x 45.5mm. Weight circa 25 grams.
This is a beautiful, finely crafted shell cameo brooch hand carved from Cassis Cornuta, otherwise better known as Horned Helmet shell. This is one of the best mediums for cameo carving. I am often amazed at how skilled carvers create beautiful art pieces by using the various color strata that this particular shell offers. It takes a highly skilled artisan to be able to achieve that! This beautiful depiction of Bacchus is a fine example of how layers of differing hues may be used to give added definition, depth, and contrast to cameo carvings. There are about a lot of separate layers on this beautifully carved cameo!
The cameo is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
