About the Item

1908 - 1917 Imperial period Garnet Pendant chained, all metal parts in solid 56 /14K Yellow Gold. Original anchor-linked chains. The length of the chains is 50 cm if open and widespread. Weight of the whole thing: 8.5 grams. The pendant is 45 mm long x 23 mm at widest x ca.2.5 mm deep. Twenty-eight original garnets of different cuts. Twenty-five minors 1.5 ctw, gradually sized and of specific rose hand-cut type, with protruding tips. Two round garnets on pendants of old diamond - hand-cut, one is Ø 4 mm x 2.5 mm deep /ca. 0.25ct and second Ø 5 x 2.5 mm / ca.0.46ct and both with culets on the backs. The central pendant has a pear-cut Garnet 7 mm x 5 mm x 3 mm deep / ca 0.85ct with multiple rose-cut facets and a flat back side. Thus total weight of the stones involved is about 3 ctw. Chains and c-lock show a full set o hallmarks: woman's head, 56, essay hallmarks . Maker's hallmark " KB". No surprise that the pendant itself is not hallmarked - parts of this construction are too fragile to be hallmarked without causing damage/ deformations. Fine used condition. All stones are in place, and on the back side, one pendant shows old prof. repair to the joint. Not visible from the frontal side. Stones with closed backs may seem darker than stones with open backs. Such nuances of color perception do not give any excuse to claim item to be not as described. It is often difficult or impossible to get an accurate characteristics of the weight , color and nature of inclusions without removing the stones from the settings to be weighed and examined and doing that may damage the piece.
