About the Item

Antique Pendant with a miniature painting 16mm x 8 mm of the ancient Greek Goddess of harvest and fertility Demeter. The painting is concealed within a miniature frame made of gilt Silver with solid Gold bezel decorated with multiple old diamond-cut foiled paste strassers. A thin plate of glass under a golden bezel protects the painting's front side and the the back is secured with a thin flat semitransparent plate of the mother of Pearl. The bow-shaped hanger makes this pendant complete. Likely French or German pendant made in the late 1700s - early 1800s.Not marked. Fine used condition, the painting is split, the line is very fine, thin, and can be observed under x10 magnification only, especially if seen against the light,no other issues to note. All Paste settings originals, very minor wear to some facets. No loose or shaky parts, ready to be used again. Measurements: total length including hanger is 31 mm Pendant 23 mm x 15 mm wide,painting 16mm x 8 mm. Weight: 1.2 gr > Most of the items that we sell are not new at all if not stated otherwise. Stones with closed backs may seem darker than stones with open backs. Such nuances of color perception do not give any excuse to claim item to be not as described. Unfortunately Internet sales do not allow us to see the items in person before we get them by post.
