About the Item

Old German Mano-Fico pendant in solid 18K Gold measuring 35 mm long x 7.5 mm at widest. Hollow inside. German hallmarks 750 and logo of maker, made ca. 1920s - 1930s. In fine used condition. A couple of tiny technical micro - cracks that appeared during casting, visible under magnification only. Bail with signs of wear caused by friction against the chain. Natural tarnish / patina on gold. Note: this pendant sells without a chain. The fig sign is a mildly obscene gesture that uses a thumb wedged in between two fingers. The gesture is most commonly used to ward off the evil eye, insult someone, or deny a request. It has been used at least since the Roman Age in Southern Europe and parts of the Mediterranean region, including in Turkish culture. Some countries in Asia, Slavic cultures and South Africa use it too.
