Antique Victorian 15K Gold Oval Black & White Enamel & Pearl Mourning Locket
About the Item
An antique yellow gold locket, comprising seven seed pearls, black and white enamel, and one panel of glass, within a 15 karat yellow gold locket.
The locket is oval in shape, with a central oval in black enamel. Within this central panel, is a cross shape adorned with lustrous seed pearls. The seed pearls are pale, creamy, and well-matched with one another. The black enamel is bordered with twisted rope detail and is further surrounded by a Greek key motif in white enamel. The edge of the locket is adorned by 2 further borders of twisted rope. The back of the locket contains a glass-covered compartment, containing hairwork of light brunette / blonde hair. The locket is finished with a bale and jump ring, which show some wear, and there is minimal wear to the enamel. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
