At the center of the pendant is a magnificent transparent sky blue spinel, radiant cut and weighing 11.50 carats. The sky blue hue of the spinel is captivating and its radiant cut enhances its brilliance and sparkle.
Spinel is a gemstone found in a variety of colors : red, blue, violet, and dark green. Spinel is often transparent and is almost as hard as the diamond. Spinel is the new birthstone for August and is classified as a semi-precious stone. Spinel was used as a gem for rulers and royals as far back as Ancient China and Rome.
Surrounding the blue spinel are 48 diamonds, F-G, VVS-VS, each cut in the old European style, totaling 1.90 carats. The old European cut diamonds are known for their romantic and timeless appeal, with larger facets that give them a distinctive sparkle and fire.
