Art Nouveau 14k Diamond Lorgnette Chain
About the Item
A beautiful diamond lorgnette chain from the Art Nouveau (ca1910s) era! Crafted in 14k yellow gold, this chain necklace is composed of interchanging oval and ellipse-shaped links. The chain also features eight oval-shaped links, which feature a unique floral-motif cutout design. Each flower is centered by a bezel-set old mine cut diamond, which, together, have an approximate total carat weight of .90ctw. The chain also features a central lavalier-motif extension, which is centered by a bezel-set .45ct old mine cut diamond. The extension also features a complementary watch swivel clasp, which would allow the wearer to attach a favorite charm or pendant! Due to the generous length of the necklace, it does not feature an opening/closing mechanism. A fabulous and feminine piece, this chain would be perfect for any Art Nouveau jewelry lover!
Measurements: The chain measures 26" in length and the center extension measures 1 1/4" in length.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold chain, and the diamonds are all secure and intact. The attached watch swivel clasp is secure and in working order.

This Art Nouveau gold lorgnette likely originates from the United States during the first 20 years of the 20th Century. Crafted from 14 karat yellow gold the lorgnette is extremely simple in its design and is virtually void of ornamentation with the exception of some fine scrollwork around the lens casing.
