Beautiful Art Nouveau Enamelled 18kt Yellow Gold Pendant
About the Item
This French pendant is made of 18kt yellow gold and is decorated with enamel. The enamel process has existed since ancient times, it is a crystalline substance which vitrifies during its fusion to obtain a vitreous material colored by metal oxides, in this case cobalt for blue, iron and uranium for yellow, copper for red and iron and cobalt for green. Enamel is supplied in powder, or grit, in chunks or chopped up. Each glaze has its own different behavior to fire: it generally re-fires at approximately 900° of firing, but the presence of coloring materials varies the degree of fusion, therefore it is necessary to proceed with glazes with a higher degree of fusion when applying, to get to those with a lower cooking degree.
