About the Item

A dramatic and breathtaking amethyst riviera necklace and Maltese cross pendant from the Georgian (ca1750) era! This stunning 18k yellow gold piece is comprised of 22 vibrant amethyst stones resting in a row to form a straight but flexible design that rests beautifully along the neckline. The oval-shaped stones are of exceptional quality, and graduate slightly in size throughout the necklace. Each foil backed stone rests in a fabulous clawed collete setting, allowing the light to filter through and catch the facets beautifully with every movement, showcasing their regal purple hues. The necklace also includes a large Maltese cross pendant, which features 14 additional amethysts. The bottom of the pendant is decorated with a large, teardrop shaped amethyst, while the top features a small, hidden gold link that attaches to a ring at the base of the necklace. The back of the Maltese cross pendant also features a c-clasp pin, granting the piece even more versatility. A double interlocking link chain fastens together at the back with a spring ring clasp, allowing the piece to drape beautifully along the neckline. The combination of the faceted amethyst stones along with the ornate yellow gold setting creates a simply breathtaking design, perfect for special occasions! Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 17" long. The largest amethyst link measures slightly less than 1/2" tall, slightly more than 1/2" wide, and is 1/4" thick. The smallest link measures slightly more than 1/4" wide, about 1/4" tall, and 1/8" thick. Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent.
