Indulge in a museum quality absolutely stunning and very rare large antique Shell Cameo Pendant Brooch with a hand carved image of a nude God Apollo with his Archery Bow and Arrow with a Greek Key motif at the top and bottom. The large neoclassical 2 1/2 inch tall cameo is set in Sterling Silver, and has a bail to be worn as a necklace and a pin stem to be worn as a brooch if desired. The cameo is signed by the artist "Savior."
The cameo is of extraordinary beauty and the imagery is very rare. The magnificent male God Apollo exudes beauty, majesty and grace with his magnificent face and wonderfully muscled body with exquisite details. The image of the god is an absolute masterwork of cameo carving and the work of one of the finest cameo artists.
The cameo is set in a beautiful sterling silver border. The cameo pendant has a lovely bail to be worn as a necklace as well as a pin to be worn as a brooch. The bail is articulated so as to be invisible when worn as a brooch.
Cameo jewels are all the rage today and this is one of the most extraordinary carved gems we have seen.
Apollo is one of the Olympian deities in classical Greek and Roman mythology. Apollo is the god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and the Sun and light, poetry, and more.
The pendant is 2 1/2 inches (62mm) tall including the bale and is 1.5 inches (40mm) wide. The cameo is 5cm tall.
The pendant is hallmarked 925 for Sterling Silver.
