Gentle as a Caribbean breeze this softly colored Larimar and Pearl necklace is about as romantic as a necklace can be. Larimar, found only in the Dominican Republic, often referred to as “the blue Jewel of the Caribbean" is particularly well matched with pearls as both stones are formed in the water.
Here polished plates of Larimar are spaced between double rows of small (4-5 m.m ) Pearls. The clasp is a polished Larimar cabochon stone to complete the story, set in Sterling Silver.
Larimar was reportedly discovered in 1916 by Father Miguel Domingo Fuertes Loren but wasn't mined until decades later in 1974 when Dominican Miguel Méndez and Peace Corps...

Large Ametrine specimen plates. Dramatic hammered ametrine ( a mixture of amethyst and citrine) in beautiful translucence stones hammered on the front side, and polished on the back. It is suspended from a necklace of facetted amethyst and rich faceted Citrine. The clasp is a well-colored amethyst geode.
Ametrine is a combination of amethyst and citrine, which are both a variety of quartz. Amethyst is clear quartz with the presence of manganese, making it purple. Citrine is clear quartz with the presence of iron, making it golden yellow.
Ametrine was not readily available on the market until the 1970s when it was discovered--or re-discovered--in Bolivia. The legends say a Spanish conquistador discovered the ametrine mine in the 1600s when he received the land after marrying a native princess named Anahi. He sent several specimens to Queen Isabella of Spain...
